Okay, I think I've calmed down enough to seek some real advice on the subject.
I'm trying to get a job right now, preferably doing some kind of research or writing work. I'm frustrated because I have a bunch of recommendations from professors and past places I've worked with, but no chance to actually use them - no one even wants to interview me! >o< I submit the resume and I hear nothing. I've been trying to network, but even though everyone's willing to give me shining recommendations, no one's actually helping me do anything that might actually help me reach the point where I can give them, such as giving leads and helping out with introductions, which I've read can really expedite the process. I'm about ready to start banging my head against the wall, and I'm almost thinking of instead of sending a cover letter, just sending a ton of recommendations and using that as the cover letter. Anything to get the stinking HR drones & hiring manager to actually read them. Honestly, I think the cover letter and the interviewing are really pointless. Can anyone think of any better ways to convince them to actually take a look at my recommendations?
