I volunteered at Dragoncon which I had done in the past for a certain track under the same director for the last 3 cons in a row during Labor Day Weekend. Normal tasks include, watching the room when she is away, lock the doors if no one is there if panels are going on elsewhere, usher guests into their seats for panels and inform them if the rooms are full due to fire marshal codes. This particular weekend, though, my director decided to have me do some different tasks that were not part of the regular routine which was om Friday. The first was that she wanted me to volunteer by giving me her hotel room key and take the elevator up to her room and pick up and drop off certain things and bring them back to her. She also happened to be hungry later that night and handed me a $5.00 bill do that I could get her a $5.00 footlong at Subway in a local mall food court. Although I had no problem getting her the subway, she did not bother to get me any extra change for tax which responded to us a transaction on my debit card to pay for that tax. Luckily, she did not do that again but I still have decided to look at volunteering in a different department for the next convention or even buy a weekend pass.

Has anyone else had problems like this and how have you tackled them?
