I just started my freelance work, but I left my previous company after being treated very unfairly, so those memories are still quite raw.

As far as I can, I avoid the area I used to work in, or places I know my former bosses and one particular colleague (in short, people who treated me unfairly) frequent. But back when I was sending out applications before I got that job, I was contacting places near my home to reduce travelling time. Although I no longer have to go to that workplace every day, there are times when I am on my way to some other place and I will pass those sensitive areas, and I feel uncomfortable. On public transport I can read an e-book on my phone, but it's more awkward to do this in a car.

Has anyone else here been through this too? Thanks.

That is so funny, I can tell the same story. I have gone so far as to modify my driving route to avoid looking at the places. (whenever possible)
You are not alone.

You're not alone. The few times I have had to pass my former place of work, I would get a sick and nervous feeling...almost as if someone was going to come out of the building, pull me back in, and make me keep working there...FOREVER! Arghh! Give yourself time, but the worst of the feelings will most likely pass as you get more involved in your new freelance career. Good luck!

Haven't taken driving lessons yet, scared that I cannot react in time to any situations on the road. So when I am in a car it's as a passenger.
