I'm starting to think about what collage I wish to go to, which also involves thinking of what career path I wish to take. I've put some thought in myself of course, but was curious to see what other people suggested. I want something which doesn't involve much social contact, I can't work as a waitress or something, I'd go completly mad. I also can't do anything like math or science. I think purely in the sounds of words, so these fields are very challenging to me, as is handwriting and drawing. I love reading and writing, but know that getting published is quite hard.

What are some fields I could be good in and could consider. Any advice is helpful... Thank you.

do you know any other languages? maybe you could translate (it's a horrible job but very antisocial :P) or proofread? or be an editor (moderately social) or fact-checker/researcher for the media?

btw do you know your Myers-Briggs type? you can find lists of occupations ideal for each type, they can be uncannily accurate (all 3 of my professions are listed in my type and I didn't even know my type at the time I started each one of them)

Meyer-Briggs is not very helpful, i remember a poll earlier said that most Aspie here are I*T* = Introverted Thinkers.

Mine is ISTJ and says I should be a doctor, lawyer, or accountant. I think it's fairly accurate, although maybe not entirely helpful.

Dental assistant was one of mine, too, and I've been trying to figure out why it would be good. But now I know...most people in dentists' offices can't TALK with their mouths full of dental stuff. That would be awesome. I need a job where people don't talk to me.

I took a phrenological exam once that t me I should either be a "Zepplin attendant" or a "genius." I think such quack science mayhaps be outdated though.

Sorry, I'm rather not helpful now, am I?

Um...actually, are you certain you want to do college? I know many people who go to trade school for things like cabinet making or welding (don't have to talk to many people there either) and they are all a sight hapier than the college kids.

If you're introverted and like to use your hands, consider a craft / skill based job. Aspies tend to excel at repetitive tasks, like routing 30 sheets of wood with the same pattern, yes?

Most of what you will learn in a Bachelor of Arts program is how to function with the corporate work environ: wear the right clothes, show u on time, meet your deadline, make the right friends.

I never learned any of that. Maybe it depends on the program. Mine was sociology.

Writer? Write for yahoo, google, sports illustrated, art magazine possibly. Probably have to check for corporate around your area.
