I got a job as data manager in clinical trials at my local hospital/university.
I have been trying to get a graduate job on and off for over 4 years since my PhD and have been temping in a series of low paid jobs mainly secretarial in the hospital, although one lasted 2 years and gave me clinical trials experience to get this job.
I had to interview 4 times for 3 different jobs. I went for a 2nd interview which was between 2 of us and missed out, then missed out again on experience and was told to apply for this job. It is the best job for me out of the bunch as well as doesn't involve patients and is a higher grade.
Each time they have given me a printout of the questions a few minutes in advance as an adjustment and this time I disclosed Aspergers specifically rather than "a disability" as they said the test would be in reception and I managed to get a quiet room as an adjustment. Because of this they asked if I could work in a shared office and I said I'd always just done this before (it depends on the office how much it bothers me) but they were suggesting quieter places to work. I would be employed by the university who seem quite good on their disability policy/adjustments at the application stage.
