I have applied for many jobs (on my parents orders), but I cannot seem to find anyone to hire me. I don't know what to do, I have not even be interviewed yet, and if I cannot even get a interview with over 40 applications both online and in paper, how in the world do I expect to get a job being what I am? Granted it is undiagnosed, but I am sure that it won't take very long for people to realize how weird, and bizarre I am. I feel that the only thing I am able to do is to try out for a strip club, or a porn bar. I don't feel that I am capable of even getting a job in this world.

I own 6 blogs, I wrote science books on mammals, and even combined them all into an encyclopedia, and published them on Lulu, but no one buys them. I sell crafts online, but no one buys my crafts. I even go on several sites to earn money online, but I earn only a small amount.

I don't know what to do. I want to be a researcher in the fields of environmental science, seeing the effects of pollution and animal well-being, but how will I be able to make a living off of that if no one buys anything I am selling? If I cannot earn a profit than what will I do to eat and sleep.

I want to be a freelance writer/crafter in the fields of environmental science, but is this dream unachievable due to my undiagnosed condition?

idk what to do...

Have you tried selling in person at craft fairs and the like or by approaching shops to sell your books and crafts? They sound neat.

My books are E-books, although I did have paperback for a time, it was too expensive. colored pictures and all. I want to go to a craft fair, but I do not know where they are in my neighborhood, etc. I really do want to go to one though. I researched them but all the sites were so confusing and were not direct with the information.

iceveela, my apologies if I am stating something you already know, but there are people who are paid to do research. Some of them obtain grants from the government or other organisations, and this funds their research, including their salary. Others work for companies and conduct research specified by that company (e.g. testing the efficacy of a drug). In either case, they may also write textbooks, but they usually make very little, if any, money from that.

If either of those options appeal to you, I recommend you read some books about how to start a research career, including getting into and completing graduate school, obtaining grants, and writing research publications.

As another option, there are also science writers/ reporters/ journalists who write about the research conducted by others. Some of them are paid by news organisations and/ or make money by writing interesting books on a topic (e.g. James Gleick's books "Chaos: Making a New Science", and "The Information: A History, a Theory, a Flood"). I do not know how they do it.

I know, but I don't think I am smart enough to research and publish publications for high-end companies like that. And I like what I like doing in my free time, if I feel like I am forced to do it I may just give up even doing it as a hobby. I feel like the only thing I can do is create my crafts and sell them on the side-walk. Hoping to make enough money to eat.

But I want to publish books mainstream and also get a profit from that as well as selling my items online and at flea markets. Collecting trash and turning it into another form of income.

I do know that in order to actually earn a living I am going to have to combine this with another job, like tutoring, or teaching. But I feel that I would only be able to succeed at being a sleep research patent.

If you're good at crafts, can you teach other people (who would pay you)?

I was working as a Dental Assistant until I got pretty sick. I recently have been getting really bad migraines. I have had migraines for about 2 years but they have gotten so bad that I can barely get out of bed some days. I also now have high blood pressure and I get very dizzy and nauseous and sometimes vomit. I also have Fibromyalgia and have been going to multiple doctors recently. I see a neurologist and a rheumetologist and I also have to go see a gastroenterologist because my rheumetologist thinks I have irritable bowl syndrome. I think I might have Crohns Disease. I am a mess. I would like to get SSI if possible. I have a lot of health problems and am on a lot of medication. I mean I would love to work but I get sick often and feel like I am dying. I also have a lot of trouble communicating with people to the point where I might cry. It is crazy. My social life is like my Fiance, my fiance's family members, and my family and my cat. I mean I do talk to people online but I have trouble making friends.

40 applications is not that many when you are first entering the workforce or when the job market is tight. looks like you will need to do more, but before you do, make some changes to your resume and see if it helps (always submit a resume even if it is not required).

i think that becoming successful at writing and research and crafts and the like are awesome long-term goals, but in the short term, it looks like you may be somewhat resisting the idea of having to go out and get any old job to pay the bills. this might lead to some lack of enthusiasm and ultimately lack of success in obtaining work. when you are applying, you want to give the impression that OHMYGODWHATANAWESOMEWORKPLACEIT'SMYDREAMTOJOINTHISTEAM... even if it is mcdonald's.

Ha! I just applied for Gamestop (I'm in Ohio) and they passed on hiring me and instead hired a guy fresh out of the army with no work experience.

This is despite me knowing a lot about games and being in retail for three years, and knowing the tricks of the trade.

If I was a girl and young enough I would go for the stripper job. It's not a career of coarse, it may be just short term or an on and off thing. But the social skills you could gain. Not just from the guys but the other girls too, maybe some new friends. You kill two birds with one stone and make some money and learn social stuff. It is not a bad thing to do and you can cultivate your weak social skills. You got to break out of your shell and be yourself. Don't overdo it, be simple and be yourself and take care of yourself. Absolutely no hard drugs it will destroy you, weed only.

I thought of that when I was younger but there were multiple problems with that. One is that I just won't dance and am very awkward and uncoordinated. The other is that I have stretch marks which make me very self conscious. There was a strip club nearby I could have applied at but never did and it's probably better that I didn't since they got in trouble and got shut down.

I did once try applying at a lingerie "modeling" place. My friend applied too. Neither one of us got hired.

Please understand what I am saying is not meant as an insult.
I could understand your reasons. It would be very frightening walking into a strip club to work the first time. As aspies we are not very comfortable in our own skin. I could find a million excuses why it was a bad idea. But really it would be just that, excuses. Really the bar is so low to get in, if your girl young and breathing your in, that's it.

This is all just my opinion, as aspies we have no innate ability in the world of projecting emotion or reading emotions/body language. Like everything else it has to be learned. And the only way to learn something is by doing it over and over again.

My thought is almost anything is better than staying home all day sleeping and feeling depressed.
If you have enough nerve to give it a try why not do it and see what happens.
