Well.... my boss/managers mother died earlier in the week (monday)

Today is the first day he is back in the office.

I really dont know what to say to him (if anything)

.....currently, i haven't looked at him or spoken to him at all. but i'm not sure i can keep that up for another 2hours without it becomming obvious.

Try this: "How are you doing today? Is there anything I can do for you?"

That should be suffiicient. If that is too tough, go at lunch and get a sympathy card, and simply sign it with your name.

(i do want to express something to him because his mum died and he must be sad and all that.... but you are right, saying that stuff to him does feel difficult and i dunno if i could bring myself to do it).
