Work enthusiasm
Anyone find that you have to fake enthusiasm at work to keep up with the NT s.
I just dont get why everyone takes work so serious when you are so dispensible as anindividual and i am constantly pretending to give a damn when really its all crap.
Are NT really so engrossed or iseveryone playing silly buggers and waiting for the weekend ?

Enthusiasm is not a strong point of mine, part of what I got criticized for at my work study job my first year of college....and I never was able to increase my enthusiasm.

It depends on the job. If you like the job you will feel somewhat enthusiastic about it, at least some of the time. But, many people are in jobs they are not thrilled with, either because they were unable to get the job they wanted, and had to take something else to pay the bills, or they don't have the training/experience for the job they would like, or they never really figured out what type of work they would be happy doing, and again, had to take something to pay the bills. And yes, those people are just marking time till the weekend.
You are obviously not thrilled with your job. While it may not be possible for you to emulate enthusiasm, at least you should try not to seem unhappy about working there. Other wise you will come across as a depressing wet blanket type of person, and your bosses and co-workers won't want you around. This could lead to job loss.
You should figure out what you would like to do work wise, and then look for a job doing that.

no, ALL people, are in a job where they are sacrificing what they'd rather be doing. in technicality this is not true, but i think it is closer to the truth. I think people who are genuinely satisfied and fulfilled in their employment are a negligible minority. Sure there is a huge range. Many people may find jobs that are not too miserable, or succeed in a particular job so it becomes financially worth it to decide they will never need to look anywhere else anytime soon. But again these are compromises. It is simply not possible in the adult world to just go do what you want. You have to make money NOW, so you have to settle for less than you hoped for and probably shake off your dreams.
im actually not too bad at faking enthusiasm most of the time . . . i think. I definitely cant contend with the high rollers that pretend to me on top of the world, but i think i generally put forth average to slightly above average positivity. that may just be because i am a generally optimistic person.
OK i know that sounds totally at odds with the first paragraph of this post, but its really not. This is just realism. The enthusiasm enthusiasts contend that you can do anything simply by wanting it enough and consequentially doing what it takes to get there. This is simply not true. Sure a good attitude is better than a bad one, but there are so many other factors in addition to attitude, some of them outside of your control.
However here is why i am an optimist, i make the most of where i am and i know there are so many worse situations that other people have to live through. Unfathomable poverty is common worldwide, and there are people who loose loved ones, and there are people on dateline NBC. etcetera and so forth. There are so many people who would do anything to trade me the silly little things I worry about now and then, with the horrible events that where chanced upon them.
work can suck, but its ok plenty of the time, and there are many many things that are more horrible, i try to not b*tch too much about the cards i am dealt before i bring these things back into perspective
I am very enthusiastic about my work and enjoy it but people feel that I look depressed, sad and sick they keep commenting
that i am lacking energy
Though i dont feel that way but i dont know why others feel that way

I have to fake enthusiasm all the time when dealing with customers, as for with coworkers I am pretty quiet and unenthusiastic. Some of my coworkers dislike my lack of enthusiasm but I actually had one coworker tell me that I was pleasant in that I was quiet and never stirred up trouble. Stirring up trouble surprises me, I get my first job during high school and I had this image that the workforce and high school would be tremendously different in how people treat each other, now I know better.
