My boss just told me that I need to speak more. I have no diagnose and I don't want one, but I do get all the high score on all the Aspergers tests and I have more symptoms than an Aspergers wiki. She did also made it clear that I'm the only one standing in the way of my own career. How do I handle this? Get depressed and quit? Man up, do the impossible and change? Tell her the obvious? I'm quite sure she has no clue what's wrong with me. I'm highly intelligent, very productive and creative, but with zero social skills. "This" is killing my chances to avance. And I'm getting bored without new challenges and I see those challenges get handed out to less awkward colleages. What do I do? Sorry for my rough english, but any feedback is welcome.

Tell her you think you might have AS but you haven't been diagnosed yet.

Simple

Tell her that you are resigning, effective immediately - simpler, and with the same results.

If your job requires you to have social skills, there is probably not much you can do except do your best to socialize at ;east once a day.
But I personally would go to a doctor and get diagnosed if socialization is not required and you wanted to keep your job. This would prompt a visit to HR with the diagnosis. This way they can't fire you due to the disabilities act.

Thanks for the response. I think I just start acting normal - I don't have a clue howto, but how hard can it be?

Hard.

Why did you even ask for advice then?

Yes, telling her would be very unwise. Learn tricks to play politics better, it's all you can do really.

I guess telling is out of the question. I've got nothing to gain, but being overrun by normal dudes. And yes, acting more normal is hard. I hate faking, but I don't see the options.
