ive failed so many times at getting a payed job, I've been through so many interviews and every time I'd get turned down at the last minute just because I don't have enough previous job experience, like, I applied at Target for like a shelving job, than I find out at the last minute that it's one of those late night shifts where you not only shelve things but you also have to do some major heavy lifting of boxes and bring them into the store and the whole job goes from 4:00 AM to 8:00 AM in the morning, well, the fact that I don't have a license and I don't drive really screws me over in that department, I depend on my Dad to drive me places and he wouldn't appreciate waking up at 3:00 AM in the morning just to get me to Target by 4:00 AM in the morning, so, of course I totally screw up the interview and they turn me down because the position I applied for became full all of a sudden, than I had to call them and get some real truth out of them, and they suddenly say, "well, call back again in two weeks, we'll have seasonal job openings." so, I wait two weeks, call them up again and all of a sudden they tell me, "oh, you have to wait 60 days for your application to expire before you can apply for a new job with the seasonal openings." so, I got screwed over in that whole interview experience. My next job interview was at Kohl's and I actually had my mentor with me and the whole interview went very well, but of course, a few days later, I get a call from the hiring manager saying to me, "oh we decided to hire other business associates instead but we'll keep your application on file in case any more job openings become available." and again, I get screwed over. It's like I got bad luck on my hands whenever I try to get a payed job. The only thing I got that's closest to a job is doing volunteer work at a nearby public library stocking shelves in the children's section, and I only volunteer once a week for two hours because apparently the library has tons of volunteers working all the other days of the week. This whole bad luck with getting a payed job is really pissing me off.

I never really went to college for long periods of time, I only went for six months and even the courses I took wouldn't help for getting a payed job, I mean, I took an art class, a How To Write Essays class, a Social Skills class, and a Reading class, than I took online courses for Veterinary Assistance and Spanish Speaking, of course I found out that I don't want to be a vet, so, I'm more interested in Japanese Anime/Manga, Video Games, TV, Movies, Music, I like to sing and dance, I like to draw and write stories and poetry, I like to knit, and I just love surfing the net, those are my interests.

Me too. If you're adamant about making money from home, I would search the forum for this thread about online jobs. They usually pay pretty low, but if you have tons of time it could be easy enough to do.

That or you just need some time yknow? I just needed some time to figure out what I really wanted to do. Maybe you could teach? Everyone is essentially a teacher in some form or another.

Well, my Mom told me that I should try to learn Yoga so I could become my own yoga instructor but I'm not really all that flexible and I'm not really into yoga, I mean, I start it, than I never finish it or I just don't bother to continue, maybe i will look for online jobs or something, hopefully they'll be the real deal

I have to point out that almost every human being on the planet likes some form of the arts. That's the whole point of art: an appeal to emotion. But, and this is going to sound very ugly, just because you like to do something doesn't mean you should make a living in it. Practical considerations come first.

The yoga thing sounds really good, acty. Sharp yoga instructors can make a good living off class packages, membership deals etc.

Okay, that just hurt, Sunshine7, Anime artists make a good living and make a lot of money because their Anime either gets turned into cartoon shows or movies or manga comic books, etc., they have a great life and career in that kind of stuff. Story writers, book writers, and poetry writers have a good career in making money out of writing stories or books or poems and they become very famous for that kind of stuff. When it comes to painting, there are famous artists who earn thousands of dollars for their amazing paintings. Artists who create statues of other people or even animals or of inanimate objects, they make a living and a career out of doing all that and they earn thousands of dollars for it and they're famous too. A lot of movie stars make thousands upon thousands of dollars just being famous in their movies, they actually make a living being famous in tons of movies. I'm not really interested in Yoga or being a Yoga instructor, I'd want to be able to put together my own band and create music albums and actually earn money that way, plus, I'd love to create my own Manga comic book series and earn money by selling them all, you can have a career out of anything that you put your mind to, there are no set limits to what you can and can't do when it comes to jobs and earning money

I am 10 years older have 2 degrees and can't get a job at either Wal Mart or Target (I was turned down from both). I have bad credit as well which makes me ineligible for any accounting or finance job plus combined with the fact that I have a very poor work history means that I may never be employed again.

I don't have bad credit because I've never used credit cards to pay for anything, I've always used a bank debit card to pay for everything, I don't even go to college, I don't have any degrees, and I really don't have poor work history at all, but, yet, I still don't get hired at any kind of job, the only thing i can do is volunteer work at a public library, of course, I don't exactly look very healthy, weight wise, people look at me and think I look physically sick and worry that if I work, I may end up hurting myself in the process which would get the job business in trouble for that, so, in my case, I think it's my physical health and the fact that I don't have enough previous job experience, so, they just don't bother to hire me.

Have you looked at any colleges/universities? The reality is that unemployment is at a staggering rate, and will continue to surge into next year averaging at 9%. Most universities or colleges offer a job placement program service of some sort, or a job postings board for students. They're mostly internships or part time positions - but it's better than working at Kohl's or Target.

First, the job market is VERY bad right now. Real unemployment figures are closer to 20%.
So there are only enough jobs for 80% of the people. It's not necessarily about you that you're not working.

That being said, there might be something about your appearance that is cutting you out.
Not that Target is full of beautiful people. But take a long hard look at your dress, manners and hair.
I can't see you from here, I'm just telling you that appearance is a MAJOR factor in getting hired.
Just for an off-the-wall example: it's hard to get hired dressed as a Goth.

Your writing sounds very "child-like" for someone old enough to have taken college courses?
Are you writing that way on purpose? Or do you speak that way too? Hopefully not!

My husband has several degrees and years of experience and is NOT AS. In past years it usually took him less than 20 apps (yeah, he made notes!), say about 16-18 job applications to land a new one. This last year it took 39!! ! He was stunned.
So don't think 2 or 3 tries is enough. You have to work at GETTING a job like it's your job.

And you have to convince every employer that you REALLY want that job! Like it's your whole goal in life.
Every job you get is a stepping stone to a better one. Don't discount any of them.

HTH.

Cleo, I'm a 26 year old young adult, I have AS, I write like an adult, I'm not some little child, I went through many school year experiences, I went to pre-school, Sunday school, kindergarden, middle school, and high school, all of those places taught me how to write, read, and spell every word I write correctly and they taught me grammar and punctuation, I've had a lot of troubles all through my school years mostly when it came to being social and asking for help, I couldn't do all those things in my school years, the only thing I did was sit, listen, and try my hardest to do any school work that needed to be done, I never really talked to anyone and I never really asked for help because I figured I could do everything on my own, I'm a very smart young woman at anything that catches my interest, it's bad enough I got my parents thinking that the way i behave is childish,i don't need someone like you to go making me feel even worse by telling me that my writing is childish, when I went through my interviews, I was dressed in an appropriate manner, a nice shirt, a nice pair of pants, no make-up at all, my hair is real short so I don't have to worry about it getting real messy, but it was very clean, I was clean from head to toes during both interviews at Target and at Kohl's, and I wore the appropriate attire, it wasn't that that was a problem, it's the way I look, health wise,my neuropsychologist told me that when I try to find a job, I should look and feel very healthy inside and out, that I should have more weight on my bones, because if I look real thin, pale, and sickly, these hiring managers will get worried and think that if I tried working, I might end up accidentally injuring myself in the process and all my medical bills will be payed for by the work insurance and the hiring manager wouldn't be able to fire me because of that reason and because I'm an employee, it's not just appearance that's very important, physical health and being is very important as well inside the work place, these bosses or managers expect their workers to be physically healthy so there wouldn't be any problems, I'm not exactly healthy, weight wise, I mean I'm like 92.0 lbs., plus my eating habits are terrible, my appetite is poor, I'm very weak and have very little energy to do anything, I have no strength to lift or carry heavy things, I don't dress as a Goth, I dress as my normal human self, just regular everyday clothes, I mean, yeah, I have my right eyebrow pierced twice, my ears pierced three times, my navel pierced once, and I got a tattoo on my upper left arms, but that doesn't make me a bad person, I'm just me, I'm just a normal human being with AS, I've been only doing volunteer work to help with gaining experience.

WhiteWidow, I don't know how many times I have to repeat myself when it comes to colleges or universities  I'm not interested in joining any kind of college or university, 1.) because they never have any classes that catch my interest, 2.) I can't afford to pay for college courses, whatever I start, I never finish so there's really no point in me going to college or a university, 3.) I don't even want to bother trying to get student loans or signing up for financial aid, no point if I'm not going to college or a university, those are my reasons. I really am not interested in going to college or a university. I've got a volunteer job at a nearby public library where I volunteer every Tuesday for two hours, mostly because the library already has so many volunteers working all the other days of the week that they can't find any more work for me to do, I'm mostly just working in the children's section doing a lot of shelving, wether it's books of any kind, CDs, DVDs, VHS, stuffed puppets, etc. It's worth it because I gain some kind of experience, I'm always on time when I get to my volunteer work, and I always do everything the correct way because I pay attention to what I'm doing. So, like I said, I'm just not interested in college or any kind of university.

Obama is creating/created (I don't keep up with American schools or their policies quite often) a program that extends incentives towards financing a larger aggregate student debt over a longer period of time.

Gothic, I felt exactly like you this year. But I took a lot of time to reflect and divulge in my personal interests.

I was a failing stand up comedian for the longest time, vying for the spot light. The bottom line was: I wanted attention.

So maybe there's an underlying issue that needs to be addressed before taking any further steps.

WhiteWidow, I really don't care for gov't or politics or Obama for that matter, and what are you talking about, "underlying issue that needs to be addressed," what's that supposed to mean :?:

This has nothing to do with government or politics. Obama created a program for all post-secondary students to finance a (larger) debt than before, allowing more students the opportunity to obtain a post-secondary education.

------> Obama's new plan

An underlying issue is an issue that doesn't reveal itself immediately, and usually requires some exploration on the individuals behalf.
