Today I was finally contacted by a disability jobseeker company after a couple of months. Instead of receiving news that they found a job for me, they referred me to Centerlink.

"It sounds like you are capable enough, you need to apply with disability employment services". In the past I have applied for youth allowance and disability allowance with Centerlink on the grounds of having Aspergers, generalized anxiety and IBS. I have been rejected for both claims, the first that my boyfriend earns too much and I don't have enough of a disability to earn an disability allowance apparently.

I'm in limbo - enough to look normal but not enough to land a job. I haven't been in a proper job for almost 4 years, it's getting ridiculous. I'm going to apply for a job assessment with Centerlink but I don't think I will be successful. Any advice is welcome.

Going through with a job assessment sounds like a good idea. Is it where they test you to find out what kinds of jobs that you could do?

I went to Vocational Rehabilitation on the grounds of a diagnosis of ADHD and depression. To me, if anyone has resorted to asking for help (thereby allowing strangers to pry into your life) then you should just get it immediately. It'd be nice to retain a little dignity, you know?

To get anywhere with these larger social welfare entities, I've found that i have to jump through their hoops. Then after reams of paperwork, they'll agree with whatever I said in the first place.
