I want to start looking for another job as I'm not happy in mine (for no particular reason other than feeling trapped and I can't cope with the hours). I want to look elsewhere for a part-time job but I don't cope well with changes like this and I'm terrible with procrastinating and organising myself, so it seems like I'm stuck in a loop of working a job that's unsuitable for me, with no way out.
Something about knowing I have to stay there from 8.00am until 4.15pm every Monday till Friday just does my head in and makes me panic and just want to sprint out of there. I feel like I am captive and tied down. I just want to work part time so the stress is greatly reduced and I have more time to relax and feel like I'm free. It isn't even normal stresses that would be understandable for someone to leave a job because, and I can't fully explain what exactly it is, but it doesn't feel right. I don't feel like I'm being able to live my own life.
But then again in order to change the job I'll need so much help, which I'm not sure my parents would give me as they want me to hold on to my current job for as long as possible, and would think I'm a complete fool if I were to quit it.
I keep listing the pros and cons in my head about whether to change my job or just put up with it and struggle on, and the option of switching jobs has way more pros than cons compared with the alternative, yet I still cannot bring myself to quit as I'm so anxious about what the future might hold.
Is the "grass really greener" on the other side? And is it better to have an enemy you know over one you don't?
There's just this strange uncomfortable paradox for me because I need change in my life, but dread it as much as I dread my current situation.
I'm sure there are plenty of others here who feel the same way.

Rabbit, you describe my situation perfectly. The job I have now is the only job I haven't loathed. But even with my current job, I feel like the nine-to-six schedule is a straightjacket that is near-suffocating.
What I've been doing since I went into the Navy at seventeen was saving every dime I made that I absolutely didn't need to live. Since there will be no Social Security or pensions for people like us (the entire Western world is on the brink of default), It is imperative to be as independent as possible.
The way I'm looking at things is that the more cash I stash away, the sooner I'll be free of the job straightjacket, and will be independent and free to do what I want.
So, if you can relate at all to what I'm saying, I would only change jobs to increase compensation so that even more money can be socked away.
At least it has worked for me. I'm getting along well with my governing body now, but this summer that wasn't the case, and I resigned twice (both times my resignation was rejected). But since I'm aspie, it could happen again. If I were have to resign tomorrow, at least I'll have a place to sleep, a truck to drive, and enough to eat. It's a great feeling not having to depend on anybody else for my material needs.
I feel the same way. My job is part time, but it's a set schedule. I thought that would be good for me, that it would help me keep a routine. But it feels like the routine is keeping me from doing anything enjoyable or useful with my free time. I can't do what I'd like to do when I get home because I feel like I have to stay mentally prepared to go back to work the next day...and the next and the next and so on. It's even got to the point that my weekends go by in a blur because I'm just trying to stay mentally prepared to go back to work on Monday. I really wish I could find something with flexible hours that would let me set my own schedule, so I could flake out on the days I need to and work only on the days when I am "on". I need a different kind of job, but I don't know what to do or even where to look for something different. I feel like I'm a prisoner to my own routine.

The time I had a part time job on the days I worked it seemed like I did nothing but get up, get ready for work, work, go home and get ready for bed, and go to bed. It exhausted me and I felt like I did nothing but work and sleep.
