ADVICE--Finacial stability & independent living (no coll
Hello. I really need some advice. I'm a 23-year old unemployed aspie who really wants to leave home and start living independently.
I graduated High School in 2007, and went through a few years of not doing much with my life. When i had work, i had bad impulse spending habits, not really thinking about the future. I'm now pretty much stuck at home, dealing with my mom scolding me constantly, and dictating me about where i work or what my future plans are. I would like to go to school, but I'm not ready yet. I've got a ways to go getting myself a proper foundation built, education wise. I have more important things to focus my attention to, like studying Japanese, drawing, animating, game design and programming. I want some ME-TIME so i can actually focus.
Right now I'm looking at getting some temporary part-time work so i can pay for some certification training, hoping it can enable me to make some decent money in some full-time work. My mom is strongly against me working at these part-time places, and wants me to shoot for something larger, but i don't have many options for decent work, as I haven't gone to college yet. I cant really depend on her much on finances, and i NEED to work.
So does anyone here have any good advice for an aspie, living in Texas who wants to get himself together and start focus towards being independent, who has no college education?
It's possible that you can get an IT job if your programming skills are really good, but you would have to create an impressive portfolio. Check to see if there is a youth job program in your state. There's something called Job Core in my state; not sure if it goes by the same name in TX.
