What is it with work and last minute changes - changing your work routine with 10 minutes advance notice? Giving you 1 day advance notice before schedule changes! Both things just happened to me today!! !

This drives me up the wall - it makes me want to scream. How do people manage to run a successful business without the least bit of preplanning!?

Sometimes you can't plan for everything.

This is how I found out I'm an aspie, by the way. They suddenly changed everyone's schedule from 8 hours to 12 hours, just like that, out of the blue, no advance notice. I flipped. My coworkers didn't know why I flipped. In restrosect, I don't know why either, but at the time I saw it as a deep insult as if MY time was THEIR time. My life would be lived based on their schedule. So I quit. I found out later about Asperger's and how we can't stand unannounced, unscheduled changes in our routines. Comès with the condition. We can't help it.

I just lost a job because I found out only a few days prior that I had to suddenly work nights and shifts that closed then opened the following day with 6 hours in between. I was told 'those are your hours, that's your schedule, you're working it'. 8O I have family stuff to deal with at night and besides, with all the stress I was having working full-time and family problems I couldn't manage those shifts. Eventually I just told my boss everything I never wanted to about me and my family and quit.

I don't know how other people handle it; I asked my co-workers if they'd be mad they said yes.

ive had jobs where i was getting no hours at all. i went 3 months before without a single shift.

this one job i had, i went in to do a shift and i know i was supposed to work that day because i checked like a billion times. and when i went in, they told me that i wasnt working that day at all, and when i went to go check, they had changed the schedule and i wasnt working at all that week. i was pissed. they didnt even call me to let me know. they would call me sometimes to fill in for someone, but when i needed someone to fill in my one of my shifts, they "wouldnt" able to find anybody, even thru i was clearly sick.
