So I need the imput of people who have no bias to help me pick here, Basicly due to talking the talk during three interviews I've got three job offers, One I want to do but is unstable, One I really don't want to do but have experiance in, and One that is good money, but alot of travel for some one without a car.

Any how, The Job I want is the Local Bar job in the Hotel but as will all hospitality jobs at the moment your bought and sold quite alot and it's minimum wage. Plus I don't know for certain If I'll have a job or just a Trail till next week.

The One I don't want is in a vegitable processing factory I've previous experiance in and am quite good at but am sick of dealing with ignorant Russians and Polish, But it's a decent wage and just about 30 mins away.

However the third is a job in the Amazon warehouse in Dunfermline, Good money, alot of hours and alot of overtime, But it's a hour n half Bus route home with a few changes, and I'd need to pay for a lift in from family.

They all have their pro's and Con's, So my question for you. What job would you do?

As much as I know it sucks, I would highly recommend thinking long term and going after that Amazon job despite the commute. It sounds like a highly stable job and while the commute sucks, you need to make sacrifices at your age. I had a hour and a half bus ride to University when it took only 25 minutes by car so I know how tough it is but in the long run it will be worth it based on my experiences.

I suppose its good to have three job offers. I don't know what is best. Commuting a long journey can stress me out in the winter months. The bar job would be noisy but good tips maybe in a hotel. Food processing would put me off food.

I hate decisions and this is a tough one, but you should look at it from your own perspective and see what you think would be best for you. Sometimes commuting isn't so bad for me if the weather is nice, it gives me time alone. The amazon job sounds good because you will not be dealing with the pubic either.

All of these jobs have their pros and cons, but if you are looking for something stable and with good money, I'd go with the Amazon job. Because you will be paid well there, I'm sure you'd be able to pay your family for rides there. The commute can tough, but it's better to work in a stable environment rather than deal with people or an environment that you don't like.

Do you have or are you able to get a driver's license?

I would think the job with the best pay would get you the ability to possibly buy a used car.

I would say Amazon...but you asked for input from people who are not biased. That eliminates me. I work for Amazon, and for me it is a good fit.

You are young. Your family can help with meals, laundry, etc. regardless of what you choose.

In the US, Amazon favors four 10-hour shifts instead of five 8-hour shifts per week (and you don't deal with people -- the website sells the stuff). Reduced work hours for college students are probably available, but part-time might be a poor choice with the long ride/drive involved. Amazon does have a good future though.

The bar job? I guess it depends on how much people eat/drink. The "leisure industry" goes up and down with the economy. Does smoking bother you? Are you a night person? Are the tips good? Any discounts on food? Do you see yourself inventing wonderful new food items and becoming a chef?

Working with Russians and Poles? How bad is the language barrier? Can you learn to "get along" well? I would not do well there.

Drop in after a few months and let us know if you are happy. Good luck, whatever you choose!

The third job. The first one is too risky (and the wage is low) and, if you really hate the second one, it would be a bad idea to try it. Therefore, you should try working for Amazon.

Commuting is stressful, but you will get used to it. I have to commute 1 hour and 20 minutes everyday to go to my job (and 1 hour and 40 minutes to get back home, since there are more people commuting at that hour) and I am used to it. Besides, if the job pays well, you could save money until you can afford at least a motorcycle.

Yes, commuting can be stressful. Two weeks ago I hit a deer with my Yamaha. On my way home from Amazon. At 2 AM. (In the US it is called "V-Star", but in the UK I think the bike is called "Dragstar".) I didn't fall down though. Only caused about $25 damage to the bike.

Just be careful out there!

(And don't forget to ask for a bus transfer slip if that is required. I don't know how they do it in the UK.)

I would go with the Amazon job. You can find something to do on the commute or make the commute easier to handle over time. In a month or so it will simply become standard routine. It offers stability and a tolerable working environment likely to irk you less. Take it up :)

Well I went against every ones advice, You've all brilliant points and reasons. I went for the bar job and my shifts start next week, My main motivation is that if things don't work out with my Army medical I can use my bar experiance and travel to America like alot of pals of mine have. Sure, Friend of mine got a 4 month holiday visa, has been there for 18 months now managing a Irish bar in new york.

At least you chose something you like to do. As Bugs Bunny said in an episode of the Looney Tunes Show, most people spend a third of their lives working. Why not make that time satisfying?

P.S.: I am not quoting Bugs Bunny. He phrased it in a different way, but the meaning is the same.

P.P.S.: I never thought Bugs Bunny would provide such a gem of wisdom. 8O
