is it possible to just go to college without having to work? my plan is to go to college this january but i get the feeling that i might have to get a job. i don't want to work and go to college at the same time because i worry it would interfere with my school work. im hoping i can go to school and still have free time. the college im going to is a community college, meaning i can go to school and come home in the same day. they give financial aid to help pay for books, classes, etc. and when you graduate, you pay it all back. hopefully, ill be able to pay it off when i find a job. all im doing is college.

I know people who do it, but their parents help out a lot. I guess it depends if you'll be living at home and what expenses you'll have. I have to work while going to school, which really sucks, I'm busy all the time, but I just think of it this way: I have to be busy and give up my free time now, but its only for a few years. Once I graduate I will have free time again and I'll be making more money than I could have before to enjoy that free time. Totally worth it! :)

Hi, I like my free time, too. As one thing, I like to do my own intellectual projects and not have to focus so much on school. (Right now, at age 49, I am taking one geology class post-bac status.)

One solution is to pre-study and try and run one semester ahead (never perfectly done but in that direction). That way, it's much more a time and place of my own choosing.
