Anyone worried over this sequestration who works for Fed or local gov't? Either contractor or actual employee? I'm a contractor with the Fed Gov so I don't know how this sequestration will affect me. I hear that it may come as taking one day per pay cut off as leave without pay. Not sure if this sequestration will lay off tons of people.

Yes, screw the Republicans. They should all be tried for treason.

From what little I saw of Obama's press conference this afternoon, it's politics as usual, in my not so humble opinion.

Neither political party is doing a good job in working for the benefit of regular citizens.

I agree. It is both parties fault. I can't stand it when the President blames the other party. It's BOTH!

What agency are you contracted to in the Federal Government?

Sequestration has not affected my subagency [of Health and Human Services] yet, but we are looking at the upcoming fight over the Continuing Resolution with great concern, if they do not vote to keep the government running that will result in everyone having to stay home until they agree to continue to fund everything. The only positive is that the worst case scenario would involve being on unpaid leave for an indeterminate period, not actually losing my job.

It will be bad not only for me and my co-workers but the many private companies that we do business with on a daily basis. So many people think government agencies exist in a vacuum, but we are like any other large employer.....we put a lot of money into the economy, both at an organizational level and on the individual employee level.
And people say "Just cut spending" but they are the first to complain when cuts in service affect them. They want cuts as long as they happen someplace else.

Agreed 100%.

I work as a NAF employee. Thankfully, my agency will be least effected, but yes, you need to do more direct research about how exactly it will effect you, as it will effect different departments in varying degrees. Some areas will take only furlough. Others will be eliminated all together, and everything in between.

Arguing about who is at fault is only deflection from the reality of the situation.

I recommend looking for other work in the private and government sectors. There are still good opportunities for those who qualify.
