I've been on disability for the past two years due to an "autistic breakdown." I have been working 10 hrs a week shelving library books for the past year and have done okay there.
Well I've been invited to interview for a full time position as a pet sitter/dog walker. I think I would be good at it because I have an affinity for animals. I'm just nervous that it may be more than I can handle.

Anyone else gone back to work full time after having been off on disability? Any tips would be appreciated.

Well, I do not. I think you'll be great working with animals :) Remember that after what you've encountered you're now an even stronger person - that will shine through in your interview. All the best with your transition and good that the hard part is behind you.

I have social anxiety disorder and think this might be good position for me because I would be looking after the animal while the owner is is away. I'm better than I used to be at interacting with people because of my medication, but it's still a strain.

Well, I got the job!
My boss is starting me off slowly so that I can build up clientele; this is good because I can work up to full time rather than jumping in the deep end.
My anxiety is through the roof. Last night I rocked for about an hour and tapped on my head until I saw stars, but I was able to calm down after a while. (Deep breathing and muscle relaxation techniques.)
I find I am paranoid that I will make a mistake, but I think this will get better as I become more familiar with the environments and routine.
I really enjoy my time with the animals, though. So I'm going to keep focusing on that.

That's great news :) (see, told you so  ).
Don't worry about making a mistake - enjoy your time with all those animals. I'm sure you'll do great.
