aspergers and medical leave
I feel like I can no longer work full time. Regardless of the job, I've found full time work leads to overstimulation and a bunch of problems. And now that I have a better idea of what's going on with me, I have also reluctantly accepted the fact that it won't get better or just go away with the right kind of work or a better work environment. I started looking for part time work, but the pay would be less than half what I'm making now and with the cut in hours, I would not make nearly enough to cover even basic necessities.
Has anyone tried getting partial medical leave in the US so they can keep their job and maintain their sanity? I have little faith in mental health practitioners at this point, so I worry I shouldn't even bother for that reason alone. I also keep thinking no one would approve partial medical leave for these kinds of issues. As in; the resulting anxiety and depression from what I've been through and what I can't cope with on a day to day basis. Like it has to be all or nothing. Working full time or not at all.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I've not tried, but I've had only jobs without benefits such as medical leave. I advise you to request medical leave only if you make it clear that your condition is temporary (obviously not true but critical to avoid painting yourself as under-performing due to chronic absenteeism).

I guess I should be more specific. I'm thinking family medical leave (FMLA). Its a government program to protect individual jobs and is outside the employer. If approved, I could use up to 60 days a year for health reasons. That sounds to me like enough days along with my vacation and sick leave for me to make it through not just this year but every year and keep my job. I just dont know if it's possible to get that kind of arrangement. I would of course need medical documentation and continued medical care, and my past experiences with mental health practitioners has not been so good...
