Here is the situation.

I just graduated college and now I am in the process of obtaining a career with either city or state government in the clerical/administrative field. I just got a letter from my state Rehabilitation Services Commission in which they said that I am eligible for such services as job training as well as job placement. However I think that it would also behoove me to take some volunteer positions working in clerical administrative which I did.

Currently I am working on an excel spreadsheet where I log the volunteers hours of others in the proper date and name field. One thing I have discovered is that if you are going to work in clerical/administrative you have to have a sharp eye for detail. Today as I almost completed the project I noticed that on many of the volunteer sheets there would be a different name on the bottom than from the top.

On all of these sheets that log in the volunteer hours there is a space that says patient name. I have to fill this particular form out each time I come in. So naturally when I went to log in the names I automatically assumed that the name on the top of the page was the same as the name on the bottom of the volunteer sheet page. I WAS WRONG!! But the plus side is because I am doing it on excel spreadsheet the problem is fixable. When I wwent to talk to the volunteer coordinator she did not seem upset to me at all. Especially when I told her it was easily fixable. Through it all I also try to keep in mind that I am only there for 4 to 6 hours a week.

But here is the funny thing. I don't know if this most recent mistake I made is because of the fact that I have Asperers or maybe it is because I don't have alot of experience doing this type of work or a combination of both.

If anybody could telll me that would be great!! !

Don't worry - its common to make simple errors of that type when starting an admin job. The best thing to do is to question your assumptions - if something seems like the most obvious answer it *usually* is, but different organisations work differently, so check with your line manager if unsure, and as a new starter they'll be happy to correct you if you're mistaken - so that you'll know for next time. Good luck. :)
