Making an Indie Comic business to help my girlfriend
Her family is really poor and they're going to be without a home for a while until they find a new house. I'm going to give them a Walmart giftcard and my girlfriend her late Christmas present (it's an Elmo hat I was planning to get her for a long time to match my Cookie Monster hat) I also want to help my girlfriends family in another way: I want to make a Comic business and instead of paying her HALF, I'll let her have ALL the money. I'll send her the copies in the mail and then she can sell them also she can make her OWN comics and I can make them into books too. I want to know how it would cost to make 30 comics the cheapest way possible (how many copies I'll send her through the mail), and how long the comics should be if they cost $3 each.

You could try sites like cafepress. It's a lot of money up front to get published and receive prints. Bigger printers usually start you out at like 100 copies (I think). At least sites like cafepress are made to order, it costs more in the long run (very long run) but I think that'd be a better option especially since you don't know how many people would buy them. If you were to get them printed and all that, even if you were to self publish it might not be enough sales to break even once you include shipping and'or chasing people down for the order. That's the reason people do dioujinshi and similar styles as a hobby until they get an editor and comic firm/book publisher. I was planning to sell my comics digitally.
Other things to consider:
Createspace is powered by Amazon.com, It's been a long time since I've even been to the site so I don't know what is costs

You could draw for a newspaper or greeting card company
Random House Publishing had an open submission setup last time I checked, meaning you could send in a comic for review with no pay up front. Again it's been yrs. since I've checked.
Don't assume just cause it's a book publisher they don't know how to make comics, my SE edition of Q-Ko Chan by Ueda Hajime was released under Random House Publishing.
Wish you the best
