In a bit it of a pickle right now. I previously posted about how I had quit my dog walking job (which I am now finished with.) I had applied to a really good job at a library where I had worked before, but no go.
So . . . my plan now is to continue in the pet care vein. I'm going to apply to all the groomers in town and see if I can get a minimum wage apprenticeship and learn the trade. I do love working with dogs.

I am wondering if there are any dog groomers on WP and, if so, can you offer any tips?

Thanks :D

It was a good job and I believe I would have been good at it, but no sense arguing with life.

I learned a lot from dog walking. The traits of the different breeds, the functioning of a small business, how to deal with clients. Walking is strenuous though - I lost two sizes. I want to learn the grooming trade.

Good luck. YOu are a kind and patient person, I'm sure you're great with animals! Weren't you expressing a little reservation over the library job? Or am I misremembering? I worked in the library in college and could not stop stopping to read the books. I was probably the worse employee they ever had.

Thanks!

The library job would have been very demanding.

Cheers!

Well I got a call for an interview on Monday from a dog salon in Toronto - full time trainee. I think going to an urban centre to learn a trade is not a bad idea. My uncle lives near the salon so I could likely stay with him for a while. There are grooming schools in Toronto, but I would rather get paid to learn.

Anyway, I am totally manic and have to reign myself in. But,I feel like world might close in on me if I let down my guard.

Congratulations on the job interview and good luck. Let us know how the dog grooming training goes, if you are selected. I think lots of us Aspies weould do well in animal careers as we seem to make up for the lack of rapport with humans with a real affinity for and understanding of animals. As a former librarian and animal lover, I think missing out on the library job was probably a hidden blessing. I'm kind of hoping to land a veterinary receptionist position myself and if that worked out, perhaps going to veterinary technician school.

Thanks! Good luck for the job.
Some of my friends have encouraged me to take a vet assistant program at our local college. I would like to, but it is so expensive. Right now I need to be earning. The job I've got an interview for could be a good opportunity (I will know better after I meet them.) If I did get it I would have to move to another city. This would be an upheaval I'm not sure how i feel about it.

Anyone relocated for a job? If so how did you handle it?
