Hi WP! I have one more semester of college before I graduate in December of 2014 (at least that is my plan). Therefore, I am trying to figure out what to do with myself after I graduate. While I'd love to go to graduate school (and will be applying) I probably can't afford it -- the school would have to fund me or I would go part time while working. Therefore my next choice would be to work for a large film production company, and my first pursuit is Disney.

I've applied to a number of Disney professional internships; one I've been rejected and the other five are sitting in the submission bin online. I'm afraid since I don't "know anyone" I might just be put on the wayside for these. While I really want one, I have a backup plan.

The Disney parks are always hiring and they especially like college students (they even have a college program thing). While I would have to move, I was planning on moving anyway and would love to work there for the summer, do my last semester of school, and then return to work there for up to a year. While working at a theme park seems a roundabout way of becoming a writer/producer at Disney, it would get Disney on my resume and allow me to network.

Does this sound like a good idea? I'm a meticulous planner and don't want to screw up these next few years while I'm figuring my life out. Also I think a Disney career would be a wonderful accomplishment for an Aspie like me. I'm definitely determined to make it happen in any capacity.

I think that sounds like a really smart idea. Having worked with Disney before will help your resume stand out and show that you really care about the company.

I thought about doing one of those. Problem is I hate heat and Florida is TFH. (Too Freaking Hot)

It can be a nice resume boost.

I can tolerate the heat in the Southwest, but Florida's humidity is evil.

A heads-up: Disney has not got a good rep when it comes to how it treats its employees, and those park jobs can be grueling. If you apply and get a job, have a backup plan.
