I have done some book reviews for a very very small publisher, as a volunteer. So far, most of the contact has been via facebook and email, but a few hours ago there was a facebook post asking if it was okay to move the email addresses of the reviewers (including me) to Zoho, as they will be using that from now on.
But I had never even heard of Zoho before that post. I've browsed and looked things up about it, but I don't really understand it very well. I mostly don't understand what it would mean for me.
The people who run the very small publisher have posted some brief stuff on Facebook, because I asked what it was, and everybody except me seems to be perfectly fine with it, even though not all of them had heard of Zoho either.
I think they are now being angry because I'm being difficult about it.
Yet they want me to jump into something that I know nothing about. They could have at least announced it a while ago or given an explanation about what it meant instead of just completely suddenly changing it with no warning.
I suppose this means that I have to leave, and that will be yet another thing I have to leave.

They want people to agree or disagree quickly; but I can't figure out that quickly what exactly this Zoho would mean, especially as they are not providing information about it.

One of the people now explained a bit more. It's still confusing, and I think the others are still angry with me.

Been there, done that.

NT types cannot fathom why some of us cannot do things they way they insist it must be done, especially if it involves making sudden changes and turning everything into chaos and confusion.

A quick look shows it to be a collection of online CRM/Business Management applications.
Apparently they're free for individuals and cost money for certain types of organizations.
There's a creator to make your own apps, and (one assumes RESTful) APIs to integrate their apps with your business/site/whatever.

Looks fairly decent, probably similar to most other things of that nature and relatively standardized in terms of usage.
In other words, it'll probably be fairly simple for you to get acclimated once you're all signed up & you start using the apps & whatnot.

If it's just for your email, I'm sure it'd be a simple matter to set up your current mail reader to work with their mail server, or even to forward your email from there to your current email address.
Email is email, and it's fairly simlple to set up any way you want.

I hate having to learn new systems, but people are always setting up & using such things.
It's a hassle & nerve-wracking to be sure.
I hope you're able to successfully resolve this transition.

I'm not familiar with the specific app suite, but I'm great with tech stuff in general & can very likely help you with it if you need it.
Feel free to PM me if you ever have any technical issues you can't sort out for yourself, I'd be more than happy to provide whatever assistance I'm able. :bounce:

Ah, yeah, I work with an organization that used Zoho to manage it's sales contacts across the sales staff. They're looking for something else now, as it was only free for a limited number of users.

I'm with you, though, if something is working and you want to change it. 1. Tell me why. 2. Tell me what it is. 3. Tell me exactly how to go about doing the shift, so I can focus on my work, not on the procrastination-producing-anxiety of making me wonder how long it will take and where to start.

Thanks for the replies. I suppose I'll understand it eventually. Well, I hope so. At least they announced that thanks to my online wailing :? they will now be doing a blog about this, so there will be some explanation.

Well, at least an explanation is better than nothing. All the best on picking it up.
