Why do I want to work at Menchies/various jobs?
At your age, most employers know why you want that job. Job interviews for menial jobs are typically nothing more than 15 minute popularity contests, so learn the social skills required to pass the interview. Keep the eye-contact at 70%, and break the eye-contact when the interviewer does. Mirror his/her body language, and be sure not to speak too quietly or too loud. If you do not have any experience, gather some info about a recently abandoned business and say that you used to work there.

Yes, but what do I write on the application?

Be sure to use your grammar and writing skills. If your experience is patchy, exaggerate the importance of previous jobs. Also, describe yourself as a person, but only mention your strong sides. As previously mentioned, they know why you want the job, but pretend you want it for other reasons than money; you could write that you want the job because you've "heard from a friend that [insert grocery store name] was a nice workplace", that you want experience for later in your life, that you want to do something meaningful outside of school, that you want to use your skills, and so on. Never, not under any circumstances, mention any social flaws.

"I have always been a fan of the Menchies brand and thought this position would be a great fit for me as an employment opportunity. I would love to be able to utilize my customer service skills with your company as well as allowing me to learn and expand on my knowledge in the customer service field."
It may be BS, they know it, you know it. But that's what they want to hear. It works.

I think the above is great as you want to talk about how this job opportunity fits in with your long term careers goals (i.e. "I want the job as its right for me, therefore I'll work hard in it")
A good rule of thumb that I always use is that you should always allude to some aspect of the culture, and how you think you will fit in. E.g. "I've always received fantastic service when I've been to Menchies, and I feel like this is the kind of team that I want to work with and learn from."
I was recently in a Menchies and said to myself "this is a neat, fun concept even though I don't consume milk. If I was looking for a franchise this would be the one to go after." I would mention about how it's an organization that's leading the way and is a fun, friendly place to be and that's it's a high growth niche (for now....) that I want to be a part of.
