Hi:
I was wondering if there is a professional way to respond to an employer to let them know that you are disappointed with their decision in not hiring you? I know there is a letter of rejection but is there a way to be honest about your feelings?

If you do anything at all, a short letter thanking them for considering you for the position and suggesting that if there are any similar positions in the future then you would appreciate having the opportunity to be considered for those positions as well.

A question of how you could better present yourself for future positions would be appropriate as well.

I sure wouldn't go any further than this unless you never want to work for that employer in the future.

You can voice your opinion if you want, by just communicating with the hiring person. But this likely won't help the situation, as above pointed out, and most of the time they won't care especially if you did not qualify. But, who knows maybe it might work in your favor, go by feel.

Complaining to them about it would certainly accomplish one thing -- it would convincingly prove to them that whoever they did hire was the better choice for the job.

That's for sure.
