Vocational rehab wants me to go through trial work then work part time. The purpose of this is so I get to keep most of my SSI check. But I find this lousy because I know that the work I'm going to do will not involve my true talents and skills. But when I look online for jobs in my field, none of them are around where I live, and if I got the job how would I move if I don't own a vehicle and stuff? In the past I got seasonal jobs around the country and stuff, but I can't do that anymore because I'm married and stuff. I have these options:

Stay where I am and get a job where I make little money.
Try to move somewhere else with no guarantee that I will be successful
Go back to college for a higher degree

But I think part of the problem is I don't know where to look. I've tried to network in the past but nobody comes up with anything. I guess I could expand my job search into things that are a little out of my field but I'm still qualified for.

Any suggestions?

Is this a type of work that you might be able to do online?
If so, I'd recommend finding a professionally oriented community or two that talk about that type of work and networking there. I'll admit that I've never been offered a fulltime work at home job, but, I have picked up a few freelancing and consulting offers that way, most of which I do from home.

Anything within your special interests that you could make into your own business? I don't know if all states voc rehabs have self-employment assistance, but just last night on Colorados I saw that they do. I think for many of us. entrepeneurship is the way to go.

it is possible to move with no car. I took the greyhound to my new city and got set up having taken next to nothing one time. Another time i flew. And once i had to ship my few belongings. Once a family member drove me.
