If this isn't work-social success I don't know what is!

Recently started a new job a few weeks ago.

I knew I had a good recommendation from someone at a previous job that was related in the sense that the companies have some common owners.

So far so good at the new job, I'm definitely doing fine - heck, I received a bit of a promotion after my 2nd shift. Working my way towards a more lucrative position in the future.

Anyways, I was informed a few days ago that it was more than a recommendation I was given? basically, people with power & influence within this organization Told the head manager of the new upstart that he had to take me on as an employee. I wasn't given a recommendation. They were told they were hiring me and that was that. Almost a wee bit Tony Soprano style. (but no, not quite!)

For a split second I thought "hmmm, that makes it feel like I didn't earn it and don't deserve the opportunity?" but then I quickly changed my tune because I know damn well I'm doing the job just fine AND, I had to EARN such a recommendation in the first place! The fact that I did is a testament to just how far I've come with work-social abilities in the last couple years. Feeling pretty good about all of this & just thought I'd share.
