If your forced into a job by the government and your boss knows that you don't really 'want' to work why might they keep you on regardless of your attitude or how well you perform at your job?

I am only applying this to certain jobs though.

Perhaps the job is heavily subsidized?

Are you being forced there because of your ASD? If so, it's not that uncommon unfortunately. To them you'd actually be a source of income with the added benefit of perhaps getting some work done.

"Forced" ... Do you mean by court order, or is someone literally holding a gun to you head and telling you to work?

Likely this, if it's a state subsidized job, your boss may well be getting paid regardless of what you actually do, and you're also a 'direct report' in his bureaucratic empire, which also helps him justify his own salary.
