In the past, I had many problems at work and mostly because of who I am and the lack of emotional intelligence I have. I went to work with very emotional people and found it to be extremely annoying. During my assessment whether I have autism or not (to which HFA was confirmed), my emotional intelligence was also assessed, to which a very low emotional intelligence was determined. So my thought on this is that if I were to find a job, it would have to be a home office kind of thing or I would have to work with little to no social contact (maybe e-mails at most). By the way even though I scored quite high on IQ, it doesn't really compensate for a very low EQ. Can anyone else relate to this?

I know exactly what you mean. I have a high IQ but low EQ. I'm a hospitality major. I'm there to learn to be a pastry chef, but most people aren't. Hospitality people are all social butterflies ad I'm just not. I want to have friends but I have a hard time connecting with people and my peers don't have any patience for it because it doesn't even occur to them that it's something a person would have trouble with. I get really lonely because the people I see every day for the most part have an average to low IQ but a super high EQ and i just feel like I come from a completely different world.

Haha, yeah, "wrong planet". ;)

As awkward as things are for me, at least I fit better with my coworkers than I did with my Mom's side of the family growing up.
