Californians- Any luck with Dept. of Rehabilitation providing job training or connecting you with employers? Thanks!

The only job center in CA I have been to has not been of much help. All it is is a computer lab where they tell you to shotgun resumes at Eastbay Works or something. They might as well close the place down because you could do that at home or at a public library (if you have no internet). This is aside from the fact that internet's a bad place for job search anyways. They don't do anything you'd think a job center ought to do, such as provide training and job counseling and stuff...

But I'm fairly new to using government resources in the US so maybe I didn't look hard enough.

Thanks so much for that information. I really appreciate your reply. Do you have a counselor or case manager at Dept. of Rehabiliation? My understanding is they are SUPPOSED to connect you directly to job training.

I don't have one... I just entered the country last December.

Nope. VOR only gave me money for transportation, work clothes (after I found a job on my own), and a counselor who helped me compose resumés and cover letters and found a few generic job leads (which led nowhere). No testing, no connecting with employment.
