Skilled trade apprenticeship interview advice needed
I'Ve been trying for 4 years getting selected for an electrician apprenticeship. I've applied at every electricians union in the bay area and the same thing happens. I take the entrance exam (mostly math), pass the exam, oral interview with a panel of 6 guys, then get put on a ranking wait list but never get selected to start work. According to my understanding an applicant must score at least a 90% in the oral interview to have any chance of getting selected for the current class of needed apprentices. The best I've scored was an 83% and the worst I got was 40%. They ask the same generic situational questions that every other interview asks but I my answers make me sound like a dumbass. When I'M on the spot I say too much of the wrong thing and can't remember good examples to use for their questions. Basically I sound like a 8 year old in the principals office. I've also been watching interview videos on youtube and they have helped. Any advice?
