I've only been at this job since late summer and after the first day I knew I couldn't stay there for any length of time. The place violates a lot of health/safety things, management is immature and corrupt. There is no support no communication and our big boss who is in charge of hiring keeps hiring people from her country about twenty of the twenty three people who work there. Boss was just back from suspension for paying these people higher wages and for hours they did not work. These people boss hires are rude, abusive (shoving/mocking/etc), steal on a regular basis and refuse to work and will leave work for hours at times then return. It's the craziest set up I've ever dealt with. I've heard stories of management setting workers up with theft crimes they did not commit.

So I don't really want to be there anymore. I tolerate it day by day but shortly approaching my limit. I try to avoid management. I work with a lot of rude customers as well along with having physical issues so that is enough challenge. Right now I am trying to get certified in various computer repair/networking things so I can find something better eventually. It won't be summer until I've completed a fair amount of that, so I'm pretty much stuck there until then. Does anyone have any ideas for coping with my work mates? Management? Just getting by day to day? Incident after incident I just keep shutting down throughout the day which makes people even more abusive to me.

Before you quit this job...make sure you have another job lined up.

I'm sorry you have to go through this crap.

But you have to earn a living, alas....even if it is within this society.

Focus your mind on your goal, and keep your head down. If you are studying for certification in a technology, then bring your textbooks with you to work and study on your break(s). Get out of there (off premises) and walk at least once a day if you can. And always be looking. Have your resume out there. If you can remain outward-looking and goal-focused, you will have less attention to spare for the BS you're unfortunately immersed in now.

Also, save every penny that you can. Building savings builds confidence and defends against anxiety.

I couldn't handle mine and I quit. It's insane to think someone with ASD to put up with a work environment that even the best of NT's can't handle and won't put up with.

Just don't do what I did and just quit. Line up another job and give them 2 weeks notice.

How I've dealt with rotten jobs is to first get another job, and then give my resignation just before quitting time on Friday. If I'm feeling generous, they'll get two weeks' notice. If I'm feeling that I've been screwed over, I'll say, "Effective immediately" and leave the name of my lawyer as a point of contact.

It's been over 25 years since I've had to resign a position; but I still have my lawyer on speed-dial.

I'm a bit younger than you but I have dealt with this before

I use to work at a park...it was hell

I was abused by the mangement I would have to work outside in the heat for hours cleaning up after other people
Trash would be all over the place
I remember I was drinking some water and one of the mangers yanked it out of my hand and told me to get back to work
I kind of dissociate a lot so that helped...I quit before my time because I couldn't take it anymore and had a melt down in front of my mother.
It was a Seasonal Job

I think I saw someone elses post yeah you should wait until you get another job I suppose I'm still pretty new to the job market

Jobs are hard to come by but when you get one it usually sucks
I don't get this world

I think I read in your post that you had to deal with rude customers?

Ha, I know that I had one guy yell at me and asked if I could read because I got his order wrong
(I mainly work park and fast food jobs.)
And this other lady...even though she was rude now that I think back she was pretty funny
She threw a taturm right in front of her kids smacking her hands together and her husband looked scared and just backed away

So yeah :D

Thanks for the replies. Yeah finding jobs is very hard to come by and the employers know it. :( Yeah, I won't quit a job until I have another one lined up. If I had to guess they will just fire me when my probation comes up in January. I was to attend a mandatory induction within my six months probation to continue working there. When the day came for the induction (which is only held 2-3 times a year) they said I could not go, it was better for the business if I stayed and worked.

I've had such a bad string of job since moving to this country it really gets me down. Had a few jobs, three lowered their advertised wages when hiring me, one hired me then cut the hours in half about two hours after signing the contract, one threatened to sue me for my entire paycheck for an hour a day job because I put my notice in, threatened me so I kept working for them, one never paid me for my work, another I quit because it was hard physical work and I only made 50pence to 1 pound an hour outside in the winter. (Feet are still messed up a year later from it.)I just feel wore out from rotten jobs. 8O

Varelse: Yes, I take my textbook to work with me always. If I am in a particular location by myself (which is a good thing and bad thing)I will take it along and make notes/notecards. (But I do find myself distracted a lot, but do my best) I'm trying to figure out how to network with the IT guys at my job but I only see them at one location that I rarely get put at. Not sure how to bump into them otherwise. I may need just to man up I guess and go to their office and see if they will take me on to shadow them.
