I just started a new job and I really love it. I knew one girl from a previous job and we are friends and all the other people there are really fun and friendly too. My only concern is that tomorrow, I have to work a six-hour shift and then a seven-hour one Sunday. How do you all deal with longer shifts if you have them? My anxiety tends to kick in and I can make it through four hours fairly easily but I am nervous about the six/seven/eight hour shifts I probably will be expected to do soon.

Thank You :D

What kind of job do you have? If you love your work, your shift will fly by. I sometimes get anxious about getting out of work at the grocery store when I have to work the closing shift. Luckily, that only happens occasionally. I'm more of a morning person myself, but I'm flexible to appease my bosses.

Pay some attention to you co-workers and take note of how hard they work. I've heard of some Aspies getting canned because they did too much, so their co-workers figured out how to get rid of them.

I can only say one thing: if you'll be in a warm place without moving much, be sure to have slept enough the night before, or you're screwed.

wait what :| i work 14 hour graveyard shifts

while it isn't a contest, i survive by making sure i'm well rested, i have enough to eat, and my job has very minimal social interaction. so since i'm just kind in my zone not talking to many people, time just flies by.

what really matters is that it's sensory friendly (depending on how you are on the spectrum) you get along well with your peers, and most importantly, you enjoy what you do. otherwise you're just watching the clock and you have a bad attitude.
