I've been thinking a lot lately about what I'd like to do with the rest of my life. Most of the jobs I've had so for were filthy, dangerous and either payed very little or came with no guarantee of pay at all. I've removed the eyes, brains and flesh from pig heads, washed dishes, dug ditches and picked berries but I can't imagine myself continuing to do the sort of work I've been doing long term.
With my grades and test scores, scholarships shouldn't be much of an issue, so prior education required for a position shouldn't be much of a problem. I just don't really have any idea what I might like to do apart from the fact that I don't want to do the sorts of things I've been doing. So, what are some jobs that you think are fairly pleasant and might give somebody some sense of purpose?
Heh, you and me both, bud. It's hard when you are not sure what you want to do in life. If you're looking for a better job, you could maybe try warehouse work through temp agencies. I'm up north in Washington state, and with most temp services, they can find a position for you somewhere within a day sometimes.
Just apply to multiple temp agencies, and make sure you establish what the hours, location are first. That way you know what your transportation situation will be like ahead of time.
They normally look for people willing to work full time, so I'm not sure if you can make that work for your school scheduling and all. I've been working at a warehouse for about 5 years. It's hard work, and can be stressful at times with noises and forklifts. But it doesn't sound as bad as the jobs you mentioned.
Plus, temp services don't only do warehousing. There might be some desk/office jobs available, too. Just some thoughts.
