Feasibility of an ASD-centric job school / activity center?
I'm still in college and hoping to apply for an art institution once I graduate, but it looks like it will have to be out of my city, maybe even out of my state or even my country. On that, I've been looking at Exceptional Minds in Hollywood and their programs for graduates with Autism, working on big movie projects as well as learning how to make movies of their own. It's an option for me after I graduate, but it's halfway across the country and me and my mom are only lower-middle class people barely able to afford big cross-state trips.
We also notice how Jackson, once an industrial town on par with old Detroit, now is turning towards support of the arts. With so many small factory lots abandoned, mom and I were thinking of starting something similar to Exceptional Minds on the East Coast. It wouldn't be so much a big movie FX studio as much as a general school and studio for artistic pursuits, such as graphic arts, animation, craft making, and even culinary training. I also had the idea of making it a place for wannabe entrepreneurs in the studio to start their own businesses before moving out into the world.
You think this is doable? If so, any ideas on improvements or how to solve issues that might arise in its founding?
