The Wawa chain has a longstanding commitment to employing adults with disabilities.

I read the article, 296 out of 28,000 associates is hardly anything to celebrate or brag about. It sounds to me like they are merely doing this to make themselves look like they are equal opportunity. That is 1.0571%. They have over 750 stores. So not even one "disabled" person per store. Sounds a bit misleading to me.

The important thing is that they realize that the disabled need job coaching and placement. Lots of people here have difficulties because they end up in jobs that they are ill suited for--but that is all they can find. It is likely that with such a policies, they have a lot more people who may not be disabled enough to need that program, but benefit because management can and does make allowances for special needs.

Wawa is my favorite. I'm lost without it.
