I got a call today, not from an agency, but from a real estate company. I applied for the job because it was advertised as a clerical position, and no further details were given.
Apparently what they're really looking for is someone to come in at the ground level as a clerk, learn the business and eventually go into management track position.
I had to tell them in all honestly that I could commit to working hard for them for 2 or 3 years, but that I couldn't honestly offer a long term commitment and I wasn't at all interested in becoming a manager.
Once again, employers around here seem only to want people who will commit to a lifetime of service and admit to no ambition beyond the company business.
Should I start lying?
