I look at seasonal jobs of a wildlife nature on a job board. I see one job I might qualify for offers 10,000 for three months of work in the ad. Is that kinda a high number? Are they trying to draw people to apply? Or does that just seem high because I'm used to jobs that pay significantly lower.

A job I applied to said they pay 1000 a month in gas and lodging allowance but I"m wondering if its rude to ask of the rest of the salary.

I would be very surprised if that $10,000 number is correct. Maybe a typo? If these are nature-related seasonal (summer) jobs usually taken by students or interns, they likely pay a stipend and provide primitive housing -- $1000/month is probably more likely.

Actually it said 7000 for one job half the season and about 3000 the other half.

Perhaps they have really long hours in a short period?

If the job is in a remote area, the cost of living might be high due to the shipping cost of food and other necessities.

That extrapolated over a year, that is actually around the average income for a single tax filer in the USA.

So, it is not high compared to other jobs.

But, some people might take the job as a "paid vacation."
There is also the undervaluation of jobs in which you do pure science or math.
You get the big bucks for designing nasty stuff for the military industrial complex.
If nobody sees a monetary payback, people argue that funding you is foolish.

Part of the job announcement said it might involve remote areas and also you work 7 days a week.

I dont really think that one is for me, the other one probably is, but they still didnt say the salary except for the 1000 a month for travel/lodging (enough traveling it would involve staying at campgrounds and motels) but they said for sure there is a salary beyond that.

I need help figuring out medical coverage if I get the offer.

There are some people who might not be able to take working in isolation, or may have health issues that make such jobs inadvisable. But, there are Aspies who may want to work all by themselves for a couple months at a time.
