It seems like the most prominent, successful people on the spectrum found a way to turn their special interest into a career. But this can be easier said than done. A special interest in programming can turn you into a billionaire, while one in Sci-fi can make you just another geek (no offense intended). What's been your experience with this? Have you found a way to profit from your special interest? Or has this remained an elusive goal?

I always wanted to be in some kind of public service, I read somewhere about the 'putting on a uniform' thing thats often associated with Aspies after getting in the field and realized yeah this was more or less me at one point or another.
