I have a job but no longer want it!Boss troubles.
Hi all, So glad I've found this site!
A bit of background info,i'm 44 and have my first Asperger's assessment in 2 days Really excited as I know this is what I have but I feel I need a diagnosis from a professional person iyswim.
So I am in employment.I must admit I do get itchy feet every 2-3 years wherever I am and feel the need to move on to pastures new. This is not the case this time.
I do not like my boss.
I work with one other person so when i start she is just going home.
I dislike her so much, she looks down on people,is a big gossip and she is extremely nosey.
Take for example last week i asked if i can swap (so i can go to my assessment)
*Ok if i can swap blah blah blah
*Is it your hospital appointment?
*Erm yes and no (awaiting an op you see)
*Is there something else wrong then?
I kind of didn't answer because it has absolutely nothing to do with her, only my immediate family know.
So the next day co-worker says....so whats your hospital appointment for then? I know my boss would have put her up to asking me so I made something up.
I do also have mobility problems and she was so rude about the fact I've started using a walking stick that i don't bother any more.
I really don't know what to do,sometimes its all to overwhelming and my anxiety spikes before I go to work and sometimes I have trouble dealing with the general public.
What would you do?? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Elle x

I would not forgo needed accommodations for a physical disability simply because my boss treated me poorly for needing it. I would instead report my boss for disability discrimination.
While I don't know if it's illegal where you are for an employer to request to know the reason for a doctors appointment, in the U.S., if not illegal, then it's certainly taboo. But if someone were to ask and I didn't wish to tell them then I would simply say it was for personal reasons.
