So my boss calls me after a few months of (trying) to get him to talk to me about a raise, and he says "I'll raise you up 50 cents from where you are right now (5 cents above minimum wage)" and he says I'll get one more raise when minimum wage goes up. This is a terrible deal, but of course, he pulls the ol' tug on my heart strings move and says "and you're a good kid, and I love having you around." so immediately I say "thank you, that sounds good." because I was overwhelmed by the fact that I care so much about what my boss thinks about me as a person, rather than an employee.

At least I still have a job...

Yep....better than nothing. I agree.

Is there a way you could, eventually, get a better job?

Not very likely. I could study for my learners. Get a drivers license in two or three years. That's if I get the hang of driving. Then there's gas and insurance. I also don't have any post-secondary education, nor do I know what I would take in post-secondary. Nor do I have the money for post-secondary.

I didn't get my license for a while.

Do you get anxious when you're on the road?

It's better, in the long run, if you can get your license.

I'm 27 and I still don't have a learners.

I was growing up in a house hold where we didn't aspire to much. Of course that's no excuse, but it didn't exactly give me much aspiration towards getting a car, rolling around and picking up girls or at least driving them to movies.

Anyways, I get very anxious when I'm on the road. My friend who I drive with always has to point out how bad people are at driving. It seems that way. Bad drivers, congested roads and too many signs to pay attention to.

I almost crashed a car into another car in the drive way, while trying to pull out of it and turn around the corner. I didn't even get close to the corner, I got four feet out of the drive way, tried to turn and almost nailed the other car in the same drive way.

I don't see much hope for my driving aspirations. But my friend is always bugging me about getting my learners at least. But why? I can't afford to drive. I can't afford a car. And even if I could, where would I go? To another minimum wage job? It doesn't make sense to me.

But getting your license might provide access to more and better jobs.

Isn't there financial assistance for people who have low incomes?

It could, but without a post secondary education how would I be qualified? I'm also a terrible driver.
