I have a 40 mile drive to and from work each day. On particularly stimulating days, I have to pull over for a nap rest at the halfway point during the evening commute. This occurs at least once a week. Does anyone share this experience?

I find as I get older that it is harder to drive at night. Especially when bright headlights glare into my eyes. Or at dusk when the sun is shinning right into my eyes. Although I do not generally do catnaps on a long journey, I tend to break at every rest stop along the way when I drive interstate and rest for a few minutes.

I sometimes find myself suddenly sleepy while driving. Good for you, to pull over and rest. On long trips, I used to find a quarter of an hour was just fine for restoring my alertness.

My partner used to have to commute for 2 hours sometimes when he used buses and he often used to sleep on buses and could easily get up when his stop was due.

I commend Dances with dogs for taking catnaps when he is tired. It is the responsible thing for a driver to do. If you are on the bus, the only danger for taking naps along the way is that you might miss your stop. But if you are the driver of a bus and fall asleep while driving the bus, you endanger not only your life but also the lives of your passenger.
