I'm interested in living in Canada and working as an actuary. Vancouver was one option that came to mind, but heard it's expensive for rent. I don't want to live in Toronto due to the colder weathers. What other cities are there to consider? Open to opinions from anyone whose lived here for a period of time.

Reason for leaving states: I have no friends or close relatives here and many of my lifestyles are not compatible with the US laws. In particular, drug laws surrounding cannabis and steroids. In Canada, I've read that the laws are more liberal and far relaxed for possession of steroids. And cannabis is legal for recreational use.

In US it's risky to do them as the law and DEA are more than happy to imprison drug users to profit and oppress/enslave anyone. For me, it sucks living in the states.

Have you considered Calgary? Yes, it is cold, but it is a dry cold, unlike the frozen cold of Toronto that makes streets a mess for weeks. More importantly, Calgary is both wealthy and English speaking. I assume you don't speak French.

I was there for a week for the Calgary Stampede visiting in-laws. They moved up there from California in the 70s,

A big rodeo event from what I read. Well, tbh not that interested in rodeo shows. I'm originally from Oregon and I spent a summer in Pendleton, another town famous in OR for its rodeo, and was exposed to that kind of culture. It was okay.

You mean California to Oregon? Or more descriptive Calamari to Oregano?
