Hello there,

Once you have determined that you should consult an attorney, how do you go about finding one? You should get several names and talk to at least two different attorneys before selecting the one who seems best suited to your needs.

You should consult with an attorney who specializes in employment or labor law. An attorney practicing in any other area, no matter how competent, won't have the experience you need to prove your claim. Employment law is a highly specialized and ever-changing area of the law with significant gray areas. Retain someone who has represented individual employees, not employers. Can you please suggest to me where to find a correct lawyer?

I think I found mine through the local bar association website.

The other criteria you mentioned is correct. One that specializes in employment law for the employee. When you contact them be ready to provide a brief explanation of the issue and any documentation you already have. Although I have a good case it was a challenge to find one that would take my case.
