Have any of you guys have been promoted with ASD? My boss is considering promoting me, I work fast food, and I'm trying to pass as normal so I don't get turned down b/c I'm different. Thanks!

I was promoted six times in six years while in the Navy. I've been promoted roughly once every four years in my current job. I'm an engineer with an MSEE degree.

I like to see what's at the top of the ladder before I climb it. Sometimes its just a painful fall.

I was sorta promoted. Basically I was put in charge of our department when my supervisor & his backup weren't around. I had a real good work ethic. I didn't really goof off, I worked longer hours whenever we were allowed overtime(working longer was better for my parents with bringing me & picking me up from work & I got to start the work & see it through), & I came in on one of my off nights when we were shorthanded. Plus I was kinda a strategist. I didn't get a raise thou except I got a very good review & got a raise then. It was stressful at times but that's mostly cuz we were shorthanded.

I am nearing the end of my career and over the years have been up and down the slippery pole.

Each promotion brought challenges, more money and quite a lot of stress.

I learned a lot from the challenges, failed marriages used up all of the money (and I do mean all) and the stress took its toll on both my physical and mental health.

On balance, I think that going for promotion was a good thing though.

Good luck with your workplace journey!

Not really, but I've been in unpaid training programs which I have later gotten paid jobs from, so maybe that counts?

My boss often reminds me to take more of a leadership role. I sort of see his point, as I'm good at it. He and his assistant tend disappear in tough times. You know, putting up a good fight for us while not being available to the staff who could use a little guidance. Or information.

But I'm pretty good at saving and investing, so I don't really need the money. Or the "prestige" of being boss.
But I started out in a pretty good place when I first got hired on where I work, not at the bottom. And received regular pay increases every year. Even a few percent adds up over time.

Instead I have an amazing flower garden and look decades younger than my actual age from not having all that stress.

Don't set your goals based on what everyone else wants. It is good that gender rarely factors into promotions these days.

Depends on what you are working now but I guess in case of fast food you should do it. Just stay nice afterwards but care a lot that the others are still working correctly once you are their boss. In the beginning some may try to test your limits. But that lowers once they don't have success with it.
