I applied to the same job, the Par Ranger position, under two announcements, one for competitive appointment, and one for non-competitive. They listed four criteria that could make you eligible for the position and I meet two of them, one year of experience in related positions and superior academic achievement.

The first email I received made sense for the Competitive position, I was eligible, but lots of people with Veterans Preference applied so they were prioritized...

But the one I received for the non-competitive one didn't make sense... Saying I wasn't refered non-competitive because I wasn't eligible based on my application...

So I emailed the hiring official asking for an explanation, copying and pasting the qualification requirements and why I meet them and forwarding the original email...

But I kinda feel they just didn't want to hire a Schedule A candidate...

The hiring official claimed that my resume wasn't "detailed" enough and my major had nothing to do with being an Interpretive Park Ranger...

Ummm plenty of people with Zoology degrees are interpreters of some compacity or other, and I've never had a complaint for a job that my resume wasnt "detailed enough" in fact with that degree and resume I got federal interviews for several positions...

I guess I could add more to my resume, but this is bull crap...

That's..... very strange. Isn't Schedule A supposed to help you get a job in the federal government?

The only way I imagine it wouldn't help your resume get forwarded is if you're applying for a job that your disability explicitly disqualifies you from.

I was in a state-sponsored program for disabled people called the 700-hour program. After successfully completing 700 hours on the job, I was supposed to get the job. I had a job coach, too. I didn't have to disclose my ASD, but I did so, after two months. I wanted to prove to myself and to them that I could handle the job. Then, it was used against me. I tried to educate them about ASD and no one cared. My boss said that I belong in a job "requiring more analysis." i was overqualified for the position, I guess. Or office politics got in the way. Government employment isn't always the answer.

Anyway, if things are meant to be, they're meant to be. I'm sorry you didn't get the job.
