First the question:
Is it good or bad to see a job heavily advertised? The bird job that can be done anywhere in Michigan, I keep seeing it in several places and on one board I go to, they made it a feature job so it stands out on the page... The federal job seems more interesting however, but would require moving to Detroit area... But hey, they reimburse moving expenses...

Then there is the concern... I had a terrible public meltdown today... Almost landed in the psych ward... Most of the time I'm cool, but I really don't want the meltdown to happen again... Especially when working...

What bought on the meltdown?

You’re right. You would have to restrain yourself on the job.

If an ad is all over the place, it probably will get lots of applicants.

I would do some research on who is advertising. You could be right in a well advertised position might be because they can't find anyone because it is not a nice place to work or not well paid and so they have high turnover.

A Federal position can offer more security. You might also be able to apply as Schedule A with a disability. You do not have to specify the disability, but you would need a letter from a doctor indicating you have a protected disability. Autism is actually has a preferred status. It does not mean you get the job, but it does help you in the pile.

More about schedule A: Schedule A hiring

The benefits are good with the Feds. Also sick leave can be generous--it is separate from your personal leave.

Once you are there, you can disclose and most offices are good about accommodations. I would still get a feel for the office before you do.

Yes, I know about Schedule A... In fact I'm getting my doctor to write up a new letter because my current letter is a few years old. That federal job in Detroit area does accept Schedule A applications. The Detroit job is really cool because it involves a lot of developing interpretive signs and materials and I'm very talented at that and in fact I included a portfolio document including an article I wrote, a sample lesson plan, and sample interpretive signs I even created custom vector graphics for...

From what my sister-in-law, who is a HR specialist, told me many years ago, in some instances, the law states they have to advertise For a position that may not be Be open for several months. Essentially, they’re just collecting application for a job that may or may not pan out. In short, Same Sh!t, Different Day when it come to the rat race called job search.
