Had a late night meeting last night with a high level software developer who works remotely for some major corporation out of Seattle. He's 2 years in and his salary is approximately half a Million Canadian dollars per year.
How he got the job:
Applied.
Company sent him an email response with a coding challenge. He completed the challenge and sent it back to them. I guess he expected a phone call for an interview or something.. instead, he got an email response with a job offer & a starting salary that was too good to decline. And boom, nearly 2 years later he's there making the big bucks - although there are people in the company that earn multiple times his pay.
I just thought it was super cool.. almost like something straight out of a movie, really. Even he was blown away at the time. Like "Whaaaat?.. wow. I need a moment to let this sink in," kind of reaction.
Just thought I'd share for the coding nerds out there.. these kinds of things do happen in real life - and could happen for You. All it takes is an application, an email response, solving a puzzle & voila - you're entire life changes in an instant.
