Am I dealing with a sociopath or a narcissist?

There's this foreign lady at work who is the most difficult person to work with, and it's got nothing to do with her being foreign. I'm the only one who has to work with her every day and I'm starting to wonder if she's a sociopath or a narcissist or something else.

1. She doesn't seem to think of anything beyond herself; it's like as long as she's happy nobody else's feelings matter.

2. She has a "favourite task", and if she's put on that she gloats, if she isn't put on that she sulks.

3. She's the most unpopular and unliked person in the workplace, sometimes she gets sensitive about it but I am always nice to her and try to be understanding and helpful but if she's in one of her sulks she's extremely rude and insensitive to me.

4. She often plays stupid or puts on rather implausible lies to get what she wants, and it's obvious that it is not genuine learning difficulties or anxiety.

5. She makes the same mistakes even though she's been in the same job for 11 or 12 years, and doesn't seem to learn from them.

6. She deliberately annoys everybody, like going really slow and holding me up, but if I say anything or go faster she gets all offended. She doesn't just do it to me, she'll do it to whoever's working with her.

7. She seems to be privileged and is the supervisor's favourite - even though he doesn't even like her and they're not at all chummy. He just seems to be scared of her even though she's ranked bottom of the social pecking order or whatever it's called (it's not like she's highly socially skilled or popular or anything, as nobody likes her or talks to her, only me).

8. She whines and cries when things aren't going her way, even if it's out of our control. She doesn't accept that she's being paid the same as the rest of us and that she is just as capable as the rest of us to do all the tasks we're all paid to do. She only wants to do her favourite task every day and stuff everybody else.

I sometimes find it exhausting to work with her and I wish I could do a task where I'm not working with her on some days, but the supervisor won't let me even though he's aware of her behaviour, he does nothing about it. He makes me work with her doing a one-person job while there are other important tasks that aren't being done that one of us could take in turns doing.

How do you deal with working with these types of people? I think the supervisor is just genuinely an idiot but I don't think the foreign lady is, she can be very sneaky and clever but just plays dumb to get what she wants. If it doesn't work then she'll turn on the waterworks and have a full-blown tantrum. She's in her late 50s, she's not two.

She sounds like she's quite irritating. I've known people like that.

Saying that she's a narcissist or sociopath might be stretching it a little bit. Both those terms, in my opinion, are overused these days.

It's possible that she's manipulative, though.

She's just extremely selfish, more selfish than anyone else I have ever met. I don't even know if she's NT or not but I don't think she's on the spectrum either. She ain't normal though.

She doesn't take advantage as such, she just wants what she wants, and if she's got what she wants then she likes everybody, if she doesn't get what she wants then she hates everybody, including the people like myself who are always nice to her.

She could be crying and whining about doing a certain task and I give her sympathy, but on the rare occasion that I might be feeling dissatisfied with what I'm doing she wouldn't give me any sympathy, she just repeats what I say in a nasty voice. But I have more reason to complain because I am a good, thorough worker, unlike her, and I know I can and will get whatever task I'm given done efficiently. When she's given the task I could or should be doing, she just does a poor job and spends most the time sitting on her phone.

The supervisor hates her and wishes she'd leave. But at the same time he lets her get away with murder. We all think it's rather unfair.
